Apolakkia Mission 1 – Sortie 03 – Coming In Hot

For the initial mission of the Apolakkia ACES campaign, House Po Ding chose the aggressive route, “Coming In Hot”. Deploying from the Mountain Emperor, The House launches an attack on a known Jade Falcon outpost, hoping to catch the Falcons by surprise and send a message.

For this sortie, House Po Ding fields 240pv worth of force:
Jade Phoenix (Prime) – Shiao-zhang House Master Po Ding – Skill 4 (Commander)
Tenshi (B) – Sho-sa Jade Takahashi – Skill 4
Hierofalcon (B) – Lien-zhang Maxwell Ma – Skill 4
Guillotine -7M – Skill 4
Dragoon Battle Armor (Squad 4) – Pai-zhang Regina Hahn – Skill 4
Sprint Scout Helicopter (Troop Transport) – Skill 4
Partisan Heavy Tank (Refit) – Skill 4

The Jade Falcon OpFor is as follows:
Heavy Emplacement x2 – Skill 4
Howler 6 – Skill 3
Bane 5 – Mechwarrior Melanie – Skill 3
Locust IIC 4 – Skill 4
Summoner H – Star Commander Brennan – Skill 3 (Commander)
Clan Foot Point (Energy, Rifle) – Skill 3

House Po deployed in a two-pronged formation. Max, Regina, and the Guillotine deployed from the South, striking against the southern emplacement and the Howler. The Howler harried the Guillotine with its superior speed, while Max and Regina struck at the Heavy Emplacement. Their combined firepower cracked the emplacement’s armor and critted a weapon.

Meanwhile, Po and Jade advanced side-by-side from the East, supported by the Partisan, attacking the northern emplacement and Mechwarrior Melanie in her Bane. Their combined fire damaged the Bane, and Jade connected with her TSEMP cannons, scoring a critical 1-turn shutdown on the Bane. But Jade paid a heavy price, coming under withering fire from the Bane and the gun emplacement.

The following turn saw Regina execute a daring anti-mech attack on the southern emplacement, crippling its weapons and rendering it useless. The Guillotine and the Howler continued their dance, with the Howler gaining the upper hand, the Guillotine surviving thanks only to its superior armor. While this happened, Max charged his Hierofalcon into the Falcon base, while the Sprint VTOL skirted the edge of the map. Each of them scanned a waypoint, revealing one of the clan foot points and the Star Commander’s Summoner.

With the Bane shut down due to Jade’s TSEMP, Po and Jade combined to bring the Bane down, but the surprise spawning of the Summoner meant more combined fire on Jade’s Tenshi, cutting into her structure, but not causing a critical hit. The Partisan tank continued plinking away at the northern turret.

With 2 of the 4 objective Waypoints now revealed, Max hung in the city to scan the 3rd, while the Sprint was critted by the infantry while attempting to go for the northern Waypoint.

The enemy commander remained in cover in the city. Meanwhile, Po attempted to shield Jade’s Tenshi from further fire, trading shots with the Summoner, while Max jumped in for a back shot. The Partisan managed to penetrate the thick armor of the emplacement and reduce its firepower, but the turret remained a threat, pumping more fire into Jade’s Tenshi, narrowly avoiding a cockpit hit. Just at that moment, the enemy Locust IIC spawned behind Po and Jade’s advance, threatening them from the rear.

Meanwhile, the Guillotine and Howler continued their game of cat and mouse, with the Howler damaging the Guillotine into structure. But the Howler’s disadvantage in armor finally was it’s undoing, with the Guillotine winning the fight.

Max’s daring paid off, scanning the 3rd objective, revealing the final foot platoon on the northern edge of the map, as he dropped the Summoner with a back shot. The Summoner’s final shot managed to connect with Po, severely damaging his armor.

This left Po, Jade, and the Partisan to clean up the turret and the Locust IIC. The Locust used it’s maneuverability to get behind Jade, severely damaging her Tenshi. But Po maneuvered with his jump jets, adding his fire to that of the Partisan to bring the nimble Locust down as Jade finished off the turret.

With the secondary objective of destroying all the enemy mechs also complete, House Po left the field and retreated back to the Mountain Emperor to lick their wounds, leaving the Falcons with only 2 foot points and 2 crippled turrets to defend their base.
